Personal associations to explore

Houses are a particularly rich symbol in dream interpretation, representing the dreamer's psyche. Different rooms embody different aspects of the self: the basement the unconscious and repressed material, the ground floor everyday life and the conscious personality, the attic memories and imagination.

Exploring an unknown house often signals a discovery of new parts of one's personality. A dilapidated house can point to neglected aspects of life, while a bright, welcoming house symbolises wellbeing and security.

For lucid dreaming, the house is an excellent space for exploration: in a lucid dream you can deliberately open doors and ask what lies behind them. It does not predict an event, diagnose a condition, or reliably signal lucid dreaming.
